Historical Fiction Masterclass

Strutt's North Mill Museum, Belper

Tuesday March 17th, 1.30 - 4.30 pm

A one-day LoveLit writing workshop for adults with Joanna Courtney, part of the writing ambitions workshop programme presented by Arts Derbyshire in partnership with Derbyshire Libraries.

I'm delighted to be hosting a half-day LoveLit writing workshop for adults as part of the writing ambitions workshop programme presented by Arts Derbyshire in partnership with Strutt's North Mill Museum.

In this 3-hour masterclass, I will take you through all the basics of writing vivid, believable and engaging historical fiction. In an active, practical and fun session I'll guide you through three key areas:

  • turning timelines into plotline
  • creating of-their-time characters
  • putting them in their era naturally and believably

With work on the essentials of research, plotting and voice, this is the class for anyone who wants to put the story into history!
